Sadho is a movement for the promotion and appreciation of the finest poetry through the innovative use of arts, media, technology and social action.
The Word & the Spirit
Sadho, which literally means ‘O sage’, is the familiar addressee in the poetry of the great Indian saint poet Kabir. He spoke of the worldly & the divine to one and all, but knew that only those with a sage-like sensitivity & wisdom would understand. So Kabir often addressed his poetry to the ‘Sadho’ around him…
For us, ‘Sadho’ is a call to all those with poetic hearts!

The Organization & the Core Team
Sadho is a not-for-profit voluntary organization, whose trustees and all the core team members are unpaid volunteers.
The core team at Sadho is a fluid group of people, who specialize in various fields. It includes writers, musicians, filmmakers, animators, cinematographers, sound engineers, media-persons, and people from fields like finance and management. Sadho therefore, benefits immensely from their diverse backgrounds and collective endeavors.
Activities
Five years in the planning, Sadho was launched in October 2007. Some the present activities of Sadho are…
- Sadho Poetry Film Fest: The first and the only film festival of its kind in Asia. A biennial showcase of the finest poetry and poetic films from around the world.
- Sadho Poetry Films Project: A collaborative effort between the Sadho core team and film makers, aimed at producing Indian poetry-films.
- Sadho Poetry Wallpapers: Beautiful images & memorable poetry for computer desktops, that can be downloaded from our website.
- Sadho Souvenirs: Beautiful souvenirs and gifts with memorable poetry.
- Sadho Kids: One of the activities by Sadho with and for kids has been launched as the Kids Corner on the Sadho website – an area where kids can post their poems and pictures.
- Sadho Workshops / Lecture-series: On various subjects related to art and other issues.
- Sadho Poetry Recitations: Coming soon
